Rachel Mackay (b. 1988, London) is a Sydney-based artist exploring the many dimensions of the body. Working in a variety of scales and mediums, her works incorporate performance, painting, photography and video. Rachel's debut solo exhibition Currents was held in November 2021 at Ninety Three Bourke in Woolloomooloo, Sydney.
Alongside her artistic practice, Rachel works in film and TV as a production designer / art director. Since completing a degree in Visual Communication at UTS in 2010, Rachel has worked in Copenhagen, Melbourne and Sydney across art, design, film and TV.
Rachel co-founded the art/architecture collective Studio Rain in 2019. Their projects Atmosphere and Atmosphere: A Revival received grants from the National Gallery of Victoria, and were exhibited at Melbourne Design Week in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Atmosphere: A Revival was also longlisted for a Dezeen award.
Rachel currently teaches Professional Practice in the Visual Arts & Design faculty at the University of Wollongong.
