Rachel Mackay is a London-born, Sydney-based production designer and art director working both independently and collaboratively across film, photography and art. Grounded in the creation of narrative-driven environments, her work merges creative direction, production design, art direction, installation and visual art. Experimenting with analogue, digital and hands-on techniques, her love for analogue film has led to her involvement with a number of film projects shot on 16mm and 35mm film.
Rachel is co-founder of Sydney-based collective Studio Rain, a team who work collaboratively at the intersection of art and architecture. The collective create temporary installations, spatial experiences and experimental art and architecture projects.
With a background in visual design, Rachel spent six years in Copenhagen working at Danish design and architecture studio Johannes Torpe Studios. This saw the evolution of her work into the spatial realm and the development of a multidisciplinary approach.
